RAINBOWS  is an international,not-for-profit organization that fosters emotional healing among children grieving a loss from a life-altering crisis.

Our History

Our growth and development have been truly remarkable. Initiated in three schools in Chicago in 1983, RAINBOWS  now has more than 8,000 sites in 49 states and 17 foreign countries. Throughout our history, RAINBOWS  has been instrumental in helping more than 850,000 children and teens grow into responsible and healthy adults.

The New Jersey State Chapter Office opened its doors in 1985 with 5 sites and 125 children. We now provide services to over 4000 participants annually at 150 sites in 16 counties throughout the state. The New Jersey office has trained over 1,500 adult volunteer facilitators and site coordinators during this period who have collectively accumulated close to $900,000 worth of volunteer hours.
